did a recky of this walk for a Cardiff based group. The path through the unnamed woodland between Willey Hall and the road has been partly felled and left in a terrible state. The path towards Willey Hall was also dreadful with deep mud, and the amount of rubbish this farmer dumps in the little valley running between his field and the woodland is deplorable. So much for farmers being stewards of the countryside!!

Your views are shortsighted Martyn. The cost to the landscape is dire for the benefit they give, relative to alternatives. They should be out at sea. 9 new offshore wind farms have been given the go ahead with a total max of 25GW, that's 2778MW each. Makes the "130-195mw" of Carnedd Wen look rather pathetic considering it blights the landscape for miles around. To put it another way, you need 14-21 Carnedd Wen's to equal one of the aforementioned new offshore farms. As a local, Carnedd Wen is actually more like 10,000 acres. I've no idea where they got 2,000 acres from. The forest alone is 6,000 acres the vast majority of which is being felled for the turbines. But even taking the official figure of 2,000 acres, you would need 28,000 - 42,000 acres to equal one offshore wind farm.

There is arguably a fourth group who benefits. That is humanity as a whole. The solution is complex, but wind farms are definitely part of it. Powering down is also part of it, and this part is also being addressed.

We can argue endlessly about it, but at the moment wind turbines are some of the best tools we have towards combating our "oil age" problem of excess.

I found your radio walking programme on Iplayer and enjoyed listening to you describing the view of the distant Somerset Coast. Lovely to hear as we often go to Burnham, we don't live to far from there, and look in your direction. Your coastline looks diferent each time. When it's misty, everything loks slightly magnified (when it shows through), but usually it is covered in a golden or pink sunset...beautiful! I wonder if Somerset looks so good in the evening light...
I am enjoying listening
Thank you
