10 Miler from Upper Chapel – 6th May 2017

A select party of 6 enjoyed a delightful walk starting in Upper Chapel, going west of the Builth Wells-Brecon Road down to Lower Chapel, and returning on paths to the east of the road.  Unfortunately distant views were obscured by cloud on the hilltops all day, but on a clear day there would be stunning views of the Black Mountains, the Beacons and the Carmarthen Fans.  Closer views were still good however, and the Broom is putting on a brilliant display at the moment.  Spring flowers were everywhere: bluebells, stitchwort, campion, wood sorrel.  Horses were another feature of this walk with two very friendly ones following us across a field, and 20 or so staring at us intently as we walked by a bit further on.  We made good time as we were such a small party and there were no stiles to negotiate.
