Derek Cosslett

Derek Cosslett has now retired from our group and Ian Standen gave this thankyou presentation at a recent dinner for the group:

As probably the only founder-member of the Four Wells Group who seems still sort-of active, certainly the longest-serving committee member, I have the pleasant duty of thanking Derek for his invaluable contribution to keeping the group going through difficult times, leaving us well placed for the future.
He helped us in many ways, in particular promoting membership through his excellent website; serving on committee in various ways; leading more than his share of walks; getting stuck into footpath maintenance; organising the walks programme.
He didn’t just give his time and technical expertise, but he chose not to claim RA Group expenses to which he was entitled.
Most of all, he helped to hold a group of eccentrics together by being always pleasant, unflappable, yet remarkably successful in quietly getting his own way – usually for our benefit.
He nearly emigrated to Yorkshire once – but he really seems to mean it this time!
So, as an inadequate token of our thanks, I present a small, unsolicited but thoroughly deserved something to impress some visitors to his and Jackie’s future home in North Wales, with our very best wishes for their life there together.
